Argentina MotoGP is an event that has been around since 2014. Even though it is a relatively new event in terms of modern history, this race was held in a different location from 1961 to 1999. It was previously held at Autódromo Oscar Alfredo Gálvez. It’s so popular that interest spikes even from those fierce MotoGP Argentina qualifying sessions.
Termas de Río Hondo marks the location of various events such as FIA WTCC Race of Argentina apart from hosting MotoGP races. This circuit boasts a length of 4.805 km and 14 turns. It’s marked by just one straight, which is also not very long. This circuit has hosted races from the TC2000 and Formula Renault series. Incidentally, the lap record is held by Honda with a time of 1:37.683 set during the 2014 MotoGP race.
This event as usually will take place from 31 March till 02 April, but in 2024 was cancelled. The race consistently features as one of the first Moto GP calendar’s events. Even though the MotoGP Argentina schedule may not make this race as a title decider, the event manages to attract a large selection of fans keen to witness a great start of a new campaign.
Marc Marquez recently became the most successful Moto GP rider at this event with three wins – all coming in the MotoGP class. After three years without success at this event, he managed to make a clean sweep of the 2019 event by achieving pole position, fastest lap, and top spot. The MotoGP Argentina results have thus been heavily in favor of the 26-year-old, who would be competing for the Riders’ Championship title.
Argentina Grand Prix appears to be a favorite for Cal Crutchlow, who has enjoyed better success recently. This Brit has been able to win the event last year, while he has also finished on the podium in 2015 and 2017.
Italians have not had a great run at this event apart from Valentino Rossi, who has been able to finish on the podium in four out of five races. Even though the most successful MotoGP rider is not close to challenging for those top honors, he is a strong candidate to be considered for podium places.
Andrea Dovizioso has been the closest challenger to Marc Marquez recently, but he has never been able to win the Argentina Grand Prix. He had come close on a couple of occasions, when he finished on the podium. However, cracking Termas de Río Hondo is proving hard for Ducati.
When it comes to manufacturers, Honda has been immensely successful in almost every class of race at this circuit. They have picked up 19 wins in all those classes, while Yamaha comes a distant second with seven wins. The dominance shown by Marquez recently will only aid Honda to stretch the supremacy. Recently, this race has been won by the Japanese manufacturer with Crutchlow and Marquez claiming titles.
This Argentina race is quite popular amongst punters even if it is a relatively new event. The race’s timing makes it a must-watch among enthusiasts, while the new season’s start also provides a lot of uncertainty when it comes to betting on this event. Punters need to be very attentive to get success.
The winner’s prediction is by far a famous market for this race. Since Honda has been successful at this event, it is better to go with a rider for this Japanese outfit. In such an instance, Marc Marquez would be a name who could make a significant difference after having picked up more events in the Moto GP class at this race than any other rider.
The fastest lap market is also quite rewarding. Argentina Grand Prix has had a unique situation where the last four races have seen Spaniards set the fastest lap. Once again, Marquez would be an excellent pick for the coming up with the fastest lap in the MotoGP Argentina for the upcoming editions.
